What the hell, Volkswagen. What the hell. You can get a GTI autobahn with tartan cloth (awesomely called Clark Cloth) seats in Canada, but in the US you have no option but black leather?

I asked Mark Gillies about this and he said VW decided Americans simply don't want to mess around with options because it "confuses the exclusivity of trim levels" or something along those lines.
I repeat - what the hell Volkswagen.

That's a nice interior. As well, did you note that they get a Golf wagon and we don't?

Plus they've decided to kill of the configurator, which is pretty much the only reason why I visit car manufacturer websites.

One more time for good measure - what the hell, Volkswagen.

Apparently they redesigned it to be more like an online dating site, and to be easier to use on mobile devices. The idea is instead of configuring the car you want, you'll go to the dealer to learn about pricing and options... further reinforcing the idea that VW has no clue about the American market.

Yeah, I heard about the idea that they were trying to get in peoples minds. All I want to know, is who at HQ thought that would be a good idea.

I just looked at the GTI Autobahn edition with the tartan print seats up here.
I don't really like the seats, the design is cool but they were just not comfy. For once we get something you Yankees don't!!!

And I cruised the internet for a while and still can't figure out whether we're getting the 2015 Jetta Wagon ... imagine a TDI version.

Even better. And may I say that I have been driving for the better part of mmmmm decades, and have never owned a GTI. For shame .... Drove a Gen 1, but should have owned one.

No Passat Wagon either. Even if it is still the old bodystyle. :(

I've concluded that unless something better miraculously appears on the horizon, my next car will either be a GTI or a Golf R. It's everything I want and need from a daily driver.
