what I'm looking for:
-to work with my crap Logitech Formula Force EX
-as much content as possible
-the ability to play online with others
p.s. I would also love it if the cars were not racing cars, but street cars, like the ones in Forza 4's low tiers, let's say up until the S tier.

Free? I don't think so. Well, the only real simulator I know of that can be downloaded freely is the BMW M3 Challenge. http://www.chip.de/downloads/BMW-…
Not much content though, it's always the same car, but at least there are some tracks: http://m3challenge.webs.com/bmwm3.html
Also, rFactor can be had for free if you download the demo and install a crack over it. ;)

Well, assuming a PC sim is suitable, give it a try. It's free-to-play, so you've got nothing to lose.

Need For Speed World comes to mind, but it's more arcade-y than simulator. Also, system support for it recently has been pretty low. The development team appear to have vanished.

They actually did vanish. They say they got some previous developers back recently though, but don't expct much.
The physics, by the way, are as far from a simulation as possible without going full Burnout/Ridge Racer. And this is before the infamous AW20 MR2s...
