Exhibit A: why hatches are the best autox cars.
Today's event was fan-freaking-tastic. Perfect weather, great course, awesome crowd, good driving. I put down an insane time in the Sonic, felt damn good.
Drove a perfectly tuned NA miata...good god I get it now. I mean, I love the miata, I've driven a few, but holy shit is it amazing on an autocross course. Also drove a friend's (and oppo lurker's) Boxster S again... I just love the Boxster. It's a fantastic driving car. It's got the right amount of power and handles so well. I'm still set on getting a Corvette but the Boxster is easily my second choice for a future car purchase.
Videos to come soon. For now, I want to take a shower and lie on the couch.

I'd rather have a previous-gen Boxster than a C3/4/5/6, but I'd rather have a C7 than the current-gen Boxster.

C6? Ehhhhhhhhhh maybe? The C6 has a mediocre interior but in every other category I'd take it over a Boxster from the same model year.
C5 and earlier? If I wasn't such a die hard Vette fanboy I might agree, but that wouldn't be an easy choice. Boxster looks better and handles a bit better, but the corvette has more power and is more practical.

....I can't think of a reason how the Corvette is more practical

These things murder the courses, along with Miatas, and Toyobarus. I think the S2000s may be faster though.

Really? Enormous hatchback, no soft top, better fuel economy.
Edit: cheaper to maintain too. You can see the engine and it's an LS

But....the Boxster has two trunks, both of which a body could be put inside.
...30mph? I don't understand.
But look at them steelies I found because I was bored: http://newyork.craigslist.org/fct/cto/465383…

But two trunks, both of which a body can fit inside!
I think they have about the same fuel economy.

By 30mph, I totally meant 30mph. I can't type. The corvette is a hatch and its trunk is pretty big actually.

Oh my god! I am trying to eat man! Fine I will look. . .
That's a good deal! You can probably sell all the stance parts and then buy some reall parts!

It needs actual coilovers that won't make it look stupid, and flares.

Driver dependent. The owner of the miata I drove is wicked fast, he beat everyone I think.

Really well. It was a Porsche club event so no classes but I was only 3 seconds or so off the fastest. I was very happy with myself

Lulz Jake's right. You gotta be willing to really rag on the S2000 or just be a lot better driver than me to get great times out of the Honda.
I totally take my place as being beat by the Sonic.

Well I mean that is a given, I beat a Lambo once at autocross. Granted the car wasn't made for this, but it shouldn't have been 3 seconds slower than me. . .
