European-market hatchbacks and coastal mountain roads of western Turkey

All, apologies in advance for no SR20 if I'm remembering the rule right. Not much posting from me lately but this is an important PSA - in two parts.

Part 1: Little hatchbacks are just as goofy and gutless as they are typically made fun of for being in the USA. However, in the right setting they are still amazing - tiny European cities, European traffic, and more (see part 2). Also, Dacia Sandero's and various little-hatch derived softroaders or similar (Lada Nivas were my old favorite, Dacia Dusters are now up there, and VW Polo Cross down mexico way) are indeed fun to see in the wild. My inner car nerd was a bit annoyed at me for not stopping to take photos.

Part 2: I occasionally forget and am pleasantly re-shocked at the mind-searing epicness of the Turkish Aegean coast, and the mountain roads that go with it. For the love of all that is four-wheeled and motorized. Wow. Disclaimer, yes, yes, amazing roads in lots of places and I can list at least three or four other areas I've driven that are totally awesome, but the combination of no passing laws (yes, really) and sometimes-widening, sometimes-narrowing, multi-switchback two-lanes with multiple thousand foot elevation changes on a quick spin from one beach town to the next over the ridge, made (yes, really) a Ford Focus C-Max with a 6-speed and three pedals and a Avis-fleet spec diesel (I didn't even bother to check if it was turbo, besides the point) a BLAST to drive. I think I had more fun on the early part of the Izmir-Bodrum drive, even with family in the car and playing it safe, than I have had in years of mostly-Houston driving my 6spd GTO.

Also - No #twowheelsbad this visit - I'm sure riding there would be equally epic but I did not make the effort for that this trip. Maybe when my kid's old enough to join in... and if traffic laws happen to exist by then. For the record though: the locals consider a 250cc single big, which means the same as above applies - wringing that 20-odd hp's neck for all it's worth while sliding your 100mm rear tire is probably a mind-altering experience.

Euro hot hatch being driven along winding Mediterranean coastal roads, definitely a bucket list item. Some of my ancestors were Turks btw, most likely Ottoman era.
