Kinja'd!!!

We'll Oppo it finally happened, I installed some new car parts and got to a area where I've ever seen a cop on my life to spread here legs. We'll. 96 in a 55. I'm a 17 year old male with a mustang, so screwed for insurance, but I do admit that it was my fault, yes my light in my speedo gauge was out so I didn't know my real speed but I knew it was fast and I take responsibility.

Cruise control except on the track. For whoever pays your insurance's sake. You (or whoever) could be spending this money on track /autocross fees. With that said, I certainly did similar.

Wow, damn. Most cops I know just give out warnings for first offense (even if it is a ridiculous speed), especially if they get you in the middle nowhere, or at least write in a lower number. I got pulled over for nearly 67 in a 45 when I was 17, and I got off with a warning. I guess that was just luck. That sucks. If you have driving school available, that should knock some of it down. You're lucky your car wasn't impounded though.

That was a god damn mistake. What was that about a V6 keeping you out of trouble :P? I keed, I keed. I feel bad for you because I know how bad it is to have to tell a parent. Sorry about that.

Lucky! Some states that fast is a felony with instant jail time.

We've all done it. Driving like this on a regular basis or in a populous area isn't a good idea, but even I have pushed triple digits a couple times while overtaking on 2-laners. Isn't 40 over enough to get your license suspended though?

Probably depends on the state.

I'd be glad you weren't doing 4 more... Then bad things happen! Also thanks for taking responsibility!

Does really really suck though. I've been tempted to push my car quite a bit. I did on the freeway once. Thank god there were no cops.

Good on you for owning up to it. Sounds like lesson learned.

Mustangs are just getting into all kinds of wrong today aren't they. :(

I just hope that breaking it to the parents isn't too bad. I've been stupid with my speed, but haven't been pulled over yet(but damn close once already); I'm sure my time is coming up soon.

call around for a lawyer.

What state are you in? 41 over is bad news. Around STLOUIS, lawyers are between $55-80 and that gets a moving points violation reduced to a non moving non points ticked like loud exhaust, or improper parking. Which will cost $260 for that ticket.

Good luck.

Anecdotally speaking, my first and only ticket was issued the first time I was pulled over. 36 in a 25 on a county road. I shit you not.

It's funny that the 25 mph limit has been ruled unsafe, but they still are here.

Hey relax! I got my first ticket when I was 17, too! You are pretty lucky to get only a ticket for that kind of speed. Some courts might let you, err, defer into a volunteer program to either lessen the violation or drop it entirely.

I might recommend hiring a traffic violation attorney. I assure you, getting that ticket off your record will be more than worth it.

It might be worth requesting a few extensions and then trying to fight it by trial by declaration. If you lose, then get a lawyer and go to court for a new trial. I was successful fighting an 80 in a 65 with simply "Not Guilty". I had pushed things out a bit and it was right around the holidays though.

Nearly 67? How accurate are these cops getting these days? “Nearly 65” was the top speed of my first car.

He didn’t tell me my speed, my speedometer bounces, and it was bouncing around 66-67.
