Now YouTube on the other hand...

Actually, YouTube is brilliant place - there you can find many people who seem to be living in that wonderful time of prepubescence, enjoying life with innocence and baby sheep. Yet somehow, through the magically mystical figure otherwise known as "Dad", they have managed to gain possession of an R35 Nissan GT-R, which of course has been extensively and expensively tuned! I've heard claims of 1,200 horsepower and 8 second quarter miles and when questioned about the validity of their claims, they eloquently respond with a fluent string of vulgarity. Isn't that just amazing?

You haven't gotten any crazy responses here on Oppositelock? I've had some wild ones. One guy called me "racist" when I pointed out that some insurance companies deny claims based on race (I am not an insurance company), another guy (different post) called me a "prick." And right now I have a thread going with one guy (out of 30K who have read the thread) who is calling me names (I am an ass, uneducated, etc) because he posted a ridiculous comment and I TRIED to respond to it in a rational way. (His first post called me a "bully.")

If you haven't been attacked here, you aren't posting enough!

In all seriousness though, I think at least here on Oppo, you definitely aren't using the internet properly if no one has tried to troll you over a post, regardless of how serious. Youtube however, it's like the home of 4chan rejects or wannabe's. It's like a competition to be the worse. I don't comment on YouTube much, I'll like or favorite a video once in a while, but that's it.

I'll admit though, I think when I first posted here on Oppo, people thought I was full of shit because I mentioned the SL600. When I posted a few more pictures and it finally became obvious that I wasn't trying to make things up and it was real, people changed quite a bit. Everyone has their own ways I guess. In the end, it's still the internet. It's nice that it can be anonymous, but a terrible thing that it is.

I've been grilled before on Oppo, but thankfully not by Oppo members. It was those pesky burners who leave snarky comments here and there. Oh, and rape GIFs. That wasn't very nice. But I leave them alone. The dismiss button's a great thing.

There was that one time on Jezebel though - I made a comment about restaurant catering and management. I had a story about how once, a notorious group of ethnic minorities would come to the town where my parents had set up their restaurant. After a not-very-nice experience with them, the whole town learned that whenever we got whiff that they were coming, we would close up shop until they left, for fear of vandalism, burglaries and general disruptive behaviour. Got called out three times for being racist.

I still laugh exasperatedly about it to this day.

I love posting on Oppo and these sites (Jalop, CarBuying and Lifehacker when they are kind enough to pick them up) but I''ll admit I am scared to go and comment at places like Jezebel. Or the comments under the local newspaper's website which are even crazier. Within one or two posts they are calling names and using insults . . .

we're not ALL bad.

I for one don't have Facebook or Twitter (shocking, considering I'm 15) & hate google plus to much to use that.

I would gladly use a kinja/gawker account, where I have to fill out my email and such, but burner accounts make it to easy to use anything else
