Good news! Racing 1UZs weigh in at 330lbs(someone threw one in a hillclimb car)! If you want you can get an LS1 which is 430lbs which is still 40lbs heavier than a regular 1uz(390lbs). Maybe you want a LS7, which is 450lbs. . . still heavier. OH and a 1uz is slightly wider than a LS1 but it is dimensionally the same.
EDIT: Decided to add a video of a racing 1UZ

Sorry about that, I hate to be THAT guy, but not every 4 cam engine is heavier than a OHV engine, and LS swap is not always the answer! I need to point this out!

However THAT LS is an endurance racing motor. It's the Corvette 5.5L from the C6/7.R and the weight specs aren't available to the public. I would still take it over the Toyota motor.
To your other point, a street LS can be used in any car, street or racing. A racing motor can not be used in a street car, unless you fancy rebuilding often.

Oh I can tell. It doesn't look like any LS engine I have seen. I do wonder how expensive that would be.
Agreed, but if you are mainly going to use the car as a road car, then I would still go with a 1UZ, they are on ebay for 1000 dollars, a used M112 Supercharger is 5 to 700 dollars. . . you see where I am going with this. People run 12psi on stock internals for about 350 to 450whp. Which basically makes my main point, it is dirt cheap. For the price of a LS1 you can swap it in, and add a supercharger.

I think the LS1 has 6 bolt main bearings like a 1UZ, but is cast iron which is probably why it handles boost so nicely. The Toyota is also has 6 bolt bearings BUT it is an aluminum block, which is why it is lighter. Hell it is lighter when it is in running condition. I don't know if it can make 1200hp, but there are a few people that have made 700hp reliably, like this guy. Still on stock internals! Pretty good for a Lexus engine! Also there are these ones. . .
This guy drives it on the track and on the road!
Apparently it is some head work, cams, and piston heads. The rest is stock.

The LS blocks can be either Aluminum or Iron.

Yeah but they engine they got was out of a truck, which were cast iron. Some of the SUVs with LS1s were aluminum I know that. Aluminum blocks are great for racing like Le Mans and F1, but if you want big BIG power cast iron ones are much more durable.

Hell, the 2.3L Ford Lima 4's block can take 1,000 horses.

THAT IS FANTASTIC. Was this the no one liked? There was a inline 4 made by Mazda, and people liked that one, and another one, that was made by Ford that was bigger, but worse in every way.

I guess I should learn to read. It says Pinto engine write in the article. Either way, I have never heard of the allure of the Pinto motor. How good is it exactly.
