1956 Mercedes-Benz W186 Station Wagon by Binz
Saw this in a die-cast brochure and immediately thought
Holy crap what is this it is beautiful I want one why do I have to be poor?
So I did some GIS for W186 Station Wagon and voilà here we are. I have never seen such a well executed wagon conversion of anything. Often those old Wagon conversions involve taking the roof and hatch from less exclusive cars such as Ford Granadas and shit and welding it onto a Sedan, and more often than not it doesn't quite work.
But this one omg it is perfect in every conceivable way, the design, the proportions, right to these lovely sliding windows and that split tail gate. It retains the statesman-like presence and elegance of the Sedan yet it is genuinely convincing as a practical workhorse, something not many Shooting Brake and Wagon conversions manage to pull off. I salute to whoever designed this piece of art. And of course, this post wouldn't be complete without the real thing:
I think I may have found my new favourite car...
