F1 of today sucks immensely, and I do not enjoy it anymore. And this is said by someone who used (when I was 14) to reach the Monza speedway from my 80 km far away hometown, riding my little moped whose maximum speed was 40 km/h... It took to me 2 hours to get there on the day of the race, and then I had to tie my bike to a lamppost (hoping to find it again), and next search for a hole in the fence to get in. And I enjoyed myself immensely, all the day long.

But not now, not anymore.

Not since an idiotic Briton decided that no technical improvement can be done to the engines, in the course of the Championship. Stupid, maleficent moron! The F1 has always been a run to the improvement, a continuous, never-ending search for new, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! that could reverse the initial bad luck of a team.

Now an initial engineering mistake, discovered in the very first race, must be kept all the championship long: our Ferrari is 15 km slower than the others, and so it must stay till the end. No hope of winning for us, other than praying that our competitors' cars bust, crash or disappear in a sudden earthquake. Is this logic? Is this sane? I don't think so.

How many sleepless night were spent in the good old times of F1, trying to improve an initially poor engine, searching for a whatever working solution that could squeeze some more HP from it, and that till a few minutes before the start of the race... how many cars were taken to the pit lane while the gates were closing.., and the commissioners were letting them pass, sometimes opening a gate that was already closed (I saw that with my eyes at a Formula Monza race, and the spirit of the old F1 was not much different...). Not now. Not anymore. I don't know why the Briton did that, but indeed he killed what was once the most beautiful motor sport.

F1 is headed the way of NASCAR. It has gone from a racing organization that is built on the idea that different manufacturers prove they can build the best cars, to a 'product.' If you listen to the TUDOR folks, they (no surprise) have started talking about 'our product.'

I really don't know what's going to fix it. I have my own ideas. The hardware rule book should have minimum safety standards, some minimum sizes and minimum weights, a maximum energy per lap or group of laps, and then.... let the teams figure it out.

As for money, I personally don't think it should be a concern. If you have the dollars to play, then play. If the sponsors are coughing up bills, build a faster car. If you don't want to spend that much, then have GP2 and GP3 for teams with less fortitude.

But you like the DUB rims and the killer sound systems and the sparklers and the endurance racing right? That's what that Brit said you would like! That is what he said we would all like!

Because the championship would be decided at the point where companies like Red Bull open their check books. All of the regulations could be reduced to basic rules if there was a budget cap on the engine and chassis side.

I agree that this is a stupid rule, but if fortunes were reversed, I expect that Ferrari would be the first to block any team raising a motion to allow in season revision. I have zero sympathy for them right now - I'm actually kind of happy to see them in this situation because of their past behaviours and attitudes towards other teams.

Oh, The Briton. That's all he should be known as, henceforth, heretofore and forevermore.
