And it makes me very happy.

I've very recently started a new job (yay me!), with this comes a new walk to and from work. Every day that I've gone in, this has been sat in a parking lot near my building.
Isn't it wonderful? The knobbly tires, the olive green, THE FRICKING CANOE ON THE TOP! (Which is always there, I might add. As if at any point on the journey home the urge to go explore a river will become too overwhelming to resist).
The only things missing are the spare tire on the empty spare tire bonnet mounting point, and a snorkel.
Ooooooh, also, you can't see them from here, but there is a pair of fluorescent pink ear defenders inside as well.

There's a guy at my work with a new Maxima with a canoe strapped to the roof. He's been driving like that for months. IT MAKES NO SENSE.

Does the driver look like this?

Eh, on a Maxima maybe not. I'd be willing to bet that the streamlined shape of the canoe actually increases the aerodynamic efficiency of this Land Rover, thus providing a permanent benefit.

Looks like an ex MOD 109 SIII. That guy loves his Land Rover by the condition of it.

I do deeply appreciate how shiny it is. I don't doubt that it occasionally sees the muddy stuff in some capacity or another, but I bet it gets washed as soon as is humanly possible.

I took this picture in my school car park a while ago. Where I live, you're far more likely to see daily-driven, dirty, dented and generally abused Defenders than you are showroom-fresh collector's cars. They're the vehicle of choice for farmers, tradesmen who need off-road ability, and zoos and the like.

Indeed. Hardtop ex MOD is rarer than the ones with a canvas tilt which are more common. Ex RAF maybe? They are the ones to get apparently.

That paintwork is immaculate for an ex forces Landrover - it's normally about an inch thick having been applied in layers over the course of many years. With a big brush.

(Apparently army's policy is "If it moves salute it, if it doesn't paint it".)

I am trying to decide between a new Defender and a new Wrangler. I'd just about decided to be sensible. Then you put this p_orn up. Why must you tempt me? (Sobbing uncontrollably).

Get the Defender, it is the only logical choice
