It turns out the embargo on the RC-F was supposed to be at 8 PM (PST)tonight, not 8 AM this morning. Hooniverse's Jeff Glucker called them out gently this morning.

So, I guess this means everyone else will rush to get their work out on time. Sure, it's a little bit of "inside baseball", but there are reasons for embargoes, primarily being quality journalism and production are carried out. As for Autoweek, perhaps they need to review their notes from "How to Tell Time 101" given in Kingergarten.

Rush to get their work out on time? If it's an embargo-imposed deadline, then they've had plenty of time to get their shit together; you don't need an embargo to prevent people from releasing material if it's so near the exposing of the information that people haven't had time to put their material together.

It's a poor move/fuckup on Autoweek's park, but Hooniverse's (and any other outlet's) issues now that it's been broken are on them; 12 hours shouldn't make a difference on content with an embargo. That shit should be ready more than 12 hours before the embargo lapses if you're an even vaguely serious "journalistic" (god, using that term so broadly here) outlet.

As someone working on the RC story right now allow me to explain why this blows. The journos drive the car different weeks sometimes three weeks apart. My publication is from Canada so we always get last pickings. Most guys have driven this thing a week ago but my reporter just drove it this afternoon. Sure you could bust out a story in an hour but my job is video. A video takes me a solid day (5-6 hours) to edit. And now that everyone's jumping the gun, our story has to run without my video. Not a cool deal from my end.
