Release blocks removed Sept 8th. So it's straight to the dealer after prep at the VDC on the 17th/18th. Yay. I guess when fewer than a dozen cars get through production in two months, holding cars back for a synchronized national release becomes a little hard to do. FWIW they are holding cars (probably 100+ at this point) at the factory for Quality Check until they are PERFECT. I'm just lucky in that mine was one of the first cars to make it through. My car is currently the only east-coast bound car on the water right now, there are two west-coast bound as well. That's three i8s in transit and there was only one in the previous week's shipment.

That may be referring to the shitstorm that would start on i8 forums everytime we'd get wind of a hold or plans for a delayed release. The last thing someone who's been waiting a year for a car (after being told it was coming in the Spring, then the Summer, then the Fall) wants to hear is that their completed, fully functioning, ready to drive off the lot car is sitting at the port of weeks/months for some P.R. launch strategy that makes it to where you have to drive the car straight home into the garage for the winter.

I'm keeping mine (evidence is pointing to a fairly substantial price increase for the next model year, a-la Nissan GT-R to get some of the markup dealers are getting). LA, NYC, Miami dealers are trying to get $50-100k over but I haven't heard anyone actually biting at those prices yet (but someone will, probably to export). An early UK car just went for £30k over but I believe it is being exported to the UAE.

Better :) You get bros from the 1-series and 3-series forums ducking their heads in, declaring they would "NEVER BUY A 3-CYLINDER" and complaining about a car they aren't in the market for, but the majority of people are fairly civil.
