Why the hell does this cost $80? Does anyone know of a cheaper alternative that will fit a Thule rack?

roof racks are insane. I would suggest checking craigslist regularly.

$80 actually looks pretty cheap, but you could try looking for used ones on ebay.

Now I don't condone breaking the law but that looks like a clip on that could be easily attached or removed...

Considering that the actually snowboard carrier is almost $150 I am trying to avoid spending $80 on a piece of flat plastic!

Luckily I got the base feet and the crossbars as a gift but, the fairing and snowboard carrier are on me.

Can't you just clamp your snowboard to the front like a fairing? Two birds one stone.

A trip to Home Depot for the plexiglass, some steel bar stock to make the brackets and a couple of u bolts to hold it to the cross bar. Use a little weatherstripping on the bottom so it doesn't rattle like crazy on your roof.

I've seen people use old skateboards as roof rack fairings.

This is an awesome idea. I have a couple of old decks lying around that might do the job!

You do not know pain! I had to pay $25 for two little bolts for my campagnolo shifters!

How about a piece of sheet metal and some zip ties.
You don't have sheet metal, you say? Plywood will work similarly.
Or a piece of cardboard.

Why do you need the fairing? My brother has racks on both his and his wife's cars and I had a rack on my last car, comparing fairing MPG to non-fairing MPG there's practically no difference, at most a half mile per gallon. For us having bikes on top was a far greater drag factor than having a fairing on the rack.

It'd really be for the noise, at 80mph the thing roars.

Build one yourself, customize as desired. The logo is almost pointless, most of the guys with 'em stickerbomb the crap out of it anyway
