...I think it looks hideous.

There, I said it.

I was so excited for it to get styling like the 3 and 6, then they come out with something that looks like an awkwardly updated NB.

Excitement levels: Unjustified.

Miata liking status: Unchanged.

Disappointment level: Very high.

I'll just continue lusting after other small roadsters. Which is actually sad to me because I really wanted to like the new Miata.

Yeah, I'm not too keen on it from any angle. It's just too melted and featureless, like all the worst parts of '90s styling found their way back to the present.

Worst spot is the area around each tail lamp. Yuck!

The design confuses my mind. There are some design details that I really like. But some I really dislike. And there are so many details for such a small car. It seems busy. And it doesn't all seem to flow together.

But all in all it's nothing that a mid-cycle refresh can't fix.

That doesn't really bug me. We all criticize Audi for making every car look the same.

If this car looked awesome I wouldn't care if it didn't look like everything else. But it just doesn't, to my eye.

I do like the overall stance. That's why I think it can be fixed with a refresh.

The Miata isn't even affordable anymore. It starts at like $25k for a base model. That's midrange midsized sedan prices for a tiny impracticable roadster.
