Guys, is this good? Please chime in in comment. I also expect MaxCare north of 6k so this could still end up out of my budget.

So much noise at 40-50k range.

You'd lose your mind real quick with all the plastic shit you'll have to replace.

If you can afford it do it. All M5s are M5s.

I meant on your car. You really had to replace a bunch of plastic? What are some examples?

That didn't even cover the whole list of shit I replaced right after I bought it.

yikes!!!!!
Hmm
Maybe it wouldn't be crazy to sell the low mileage E46 M3 and get a Ferrari 348, lol

Probably pretty even. But I'd still go for a 355 every day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

well that is what I want. But it's supposed to be crazy unreliable. Like criminally unreliable.

Like a V8 or V10 BMW? At least you'd have an objet d'art.

"hey honey, the Ferrari guy reply my post!"
Yeah I have been in contact with some salesperson in CarMax and I blame Doug for all the high quote I got for MaxCare. :(
Was serious about scoring a F10 550 MSport at one point.

I can afford the purchasing price but unsure about repairing.

True! Funny because I had this internal debate between a 348 and F355 while driving home and now you've revitalized it, haha

What debate? The 355 is fucking gorgeous. The 348 is a weirdo stopgap in-between.
There is no debate.

I know. But the 348 is cheaper. And maybe more reliable.
But fuck it, 355 FTW!

Send pics. Buy it in either black or white. Blue may also be acceptable. But never that flat shitty red.

I wonder if my posts have had some effect; I notice they've also ratcheted things down to just 5 yers rather than 6. What were your MaxCare quotes like? $6k for what kind of coverage? Honestly $6k still isn't THAT bad for bumper to bumper on an E60 M5 — that has to be one of the least reliable cars around.

I was quoted $6149 for a 2011 535i M Sport with a factory warranty goes to 12/26/2015. I meant, even at 5yr/125k with $50 deductible it's still too expensive. Granted that was one outlier as I am getting 3599 consistently for MY2011/MY2012 535/550. But since this is M5, I'd say MaxCare is definitely over 6k.
Joke aside, I bet there is a good amount to traffic was driven by your post, I can't believe they haven't hire you yet. I don't believe in CarMax model before but I am constantly checking CarMax when I have free time. Not to mentioned the distance to my closest store just shrink to half (still 150+ miles).

It seems you are unfamiliar with Arrested Development.
That's... Easily fixable. And highly recommended.

Wait — CarMax quoted you a warranty that lasted until 12/2015? Only a year? Or BMW did?

Sorry for the confusion. The 12/2015 is the BMW factory warranty. I am trying to get MaxCare to cover at least 3-5 years after that.

Aren't these the ones where the transmission just sort of gives up on itself at 120k? Red gear of death is what they call it I think?

That would be hilarious if that becomes a reason to up for 5yr/125k coverage of MaxCare. But I don't think I am the guy to DD a M5 though, let alone run it up to 120k and see if transmission holding up.

Great car to drive, I love them and will eventually pick one up for myself. That said, get the warranty or prepare to go broke. Everything about that car is expensive, and prone to breaking. It is like the BMW from maintenance hell.
