I can't tell whether that screen is fixed or retractable, but I've never been one to care about that detail on a non-luxury car. Otherwise, I'm liking what I can see - from this angle, that is. MOAR INTERIOR PICS, PLEASE.

If it's anything like the Mazda3, it's fixed. Don't try to remove one from the floor model at the dealership. Trust me.

This shit doesn't look premium on a 100k BMW, it does not look premium on a 20-30k Mazda.

Laziness in its truest form. If adding a cowl/shroud was too much weight to integrate it, why offer a screen in the first place, if such concerns are really such concerns?

I'll take your word for it.

It's just that the back of it looks somewhat curved, which makes it look like it could tilt forward and retract into the dash for a flush look.

Because it doesn't need a cowl or shroud any more? Modern displays work perfectly fine in direct sunlight.

It looks plenty premium, you just don't like it.
