For the record, I never disliked Kinja at any point. Having a career working with internet software, I've never felt like any of its failings have been all that bad, especially since it's a peerless blogging platform that to my mind does content aggregation better than any other network of sites out there, at least from a user perspective (a different case could be made on Gawker's business side of things).
I always feel like I'm taking crazy pills when people get upset about their GIF not posting on something like Oppositelock. "You mean a site hosted at the expense of Gawker with absolutely ZERO ads on it, that practically anyone can post on at any time, malfunctions <1% of the time!?!?!?! OUTRAGEOUS!!!!"
The shit's impressive.

Having been here since the pre-Kinja days, I would have to agree. I really liked Kinja when it first rolled out. It was different and fresh and worked well. Then they started rolling it back to just about what it looked like at first, but with a different engine under the hood. There were definitely some teething issues, but on the whole, it works very well. And it was flexible enough to deal with the gore/porn issues in a rather elegant way.

Hey now, I still hate Kinja. I just accept it for what it is and that doesn't change the fact that I would like to splatter paint the people who made this system with chili pepper diarrhea.
