Eva Håkansson achieved a two-way average of 240.726 mph (387.328 km/h) at the Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials beating the previous record by 25 mph and is now the fastest woman on a motorcycle.
The 33 year old, who is studying for a Phd in mechanical engineering, also broke the following records.
Fastest electric motorcycle in the world
Fastest sidecar motorcycle in the world (including internal combustion)
Fastest speed of the event
Fastest woman on a motorcycle in the world
80% of the vehicle, dubbed "KillaJoule," was built in a two-car garage on a shoe-string budget. The battery produces over 10 kWh and over 400 horsepower, and weighs in at 1,540 lbs including the driver. Compare that to the 85 kW-h and 4,647 lbs from the performance option on the Tesla Model S to get an idea of the advantages of weight and aerodynamics.
Considering this is simply a hobby for Eva and her husband, its truly amazing that they smashed the previous electric motorcycle speed record by 25 mph and managed to top the speed of any other sidecar motorcycle including those powered by internal combustion.
