The latest iPhone is expected to be announced in 6 days, and hipsters with nothing better to do are lining up to be the first to get one. In order to promote their business, two of these morons Apple fans are trying to beat their old record of waiting in line for 18 days, having showed up on August 31 (the phone has traditionally become available to buyers about a week-and-a-half after the announcement). The conceded their spots at the head of the line, though, to two other idiots Apple fans, also flogging their own business, who paid them $2500 for their spots. ( !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! )

having worked at a Verizon corporate store for the 4, 4s and 5 launches we had dozens of each model available and didn't sell out until well after the initial crowd had been dispersed.
Fun story of my iPhone 4 launch with Verizon : it was the biggest fucking thing since the razor. Seriously, we were having extra meetings (before the store was opened or after closed - yeah when I could be home or you know, not at work). Once the "precious cargo" was delivered to the store and locked in our inventory room the store had 24 hour security posted outside. Yeah, for like 120 cellphones. Oh yeah they threatened to fire on the spot if we divulged the inventory quantity - I really want to test this theory.
So the day before we have yet another meeting after the store has closed (9pm) to "set up". There were tabled set up with everything else we need to upsell, those pole and rope crowd line controllers, megaphones, boxes of monster and red bull (this was my only saving grace because our commission was now 200% of what it normally is). We had stupid shirts, beanies, etc.
So Va Beach has a freak snow storm and dumps 6 inches of snow on the ground (and my car which I had to scoop off) did I mention I had to be at work at 4 o' fucking clock in the morning?
Store didn't open until 6, employee's cars were stuck in their driveways, one guys care got stuck on the median so we had to go on a rescue mission. All that crowd control and planning we did and were ready for? 1 one uno un une a single person waiting outside. This massive crowd of people was 1. By 6 we had like 5 people.
We were all so bored that we ended up having monster drinking contests in the back of the store later on. That was my iPhone launch experience and one of many horror stories from Verizon.

At risk of sounding like an idiot Apple super fan, I plan to get an iPhone 6 however, I'm going to wait a month or so until the hype has cooled down. I like the product, but it's not a fucking lifestyle for me.

China Mobile is already taking pre-orders for both sizes, apparently.
It'll be interesting to see how the iPhone 6 5.5" model fares against Samsung's Note 4.

I am completely in the Apple technosphere myself (though I do own one Dell). I'm waiting for the 6 to see what happens to the 32G 5S. I've been off contract for three months, knowing that things will be happening next week.

Yeah, basically just waiting for the hype to wear down. My current phone works just fine except for the sleep/wake button has become a bit unresponsive.
Although the purple backing plate I swapped looks badass:

It has not been announced officially, but there's really little doubt that they will. Leaks have been coming out of China for ages.

I've always wanted to get something like that but all of my friends that have them say they are pieces of shit and break easily. Is that true with yours or did you get it from a good company?

The housing itself is pretty good but the rear glass wasn't glued in very well and has came out/got glued back in/still coming out. Mine was done more out of necessity than purely for aesthetics. I would probably not repeat this if it were just for aesthetics simply because of aftermarket quality and reliability.
