Got a text from my wife, garbage wasn't picked up. Call up the company, the campgrounds we live on (privately owned) said we haven't paid our (flat-fee) utility bill. There's only one problem, we're renting and our landlord has been paying the fee since last December.
Called up the camp director, found out our utilities will be shut off on the 15th, and this usually happens when the fee is 60 days passed due....I'm not really feeling warm and fuzzy inside right now.
The landlord is a friend of the family, and I don't know his monetary situation, but I'm none-the-less irritated. My wife is at home, in tears (at least she sounds to be over the phone) because we have had some issues in the past with this house.
As I'm writing this, my landlord will be dropping a check for the utility bill sometime today, still....
Pictured is the house we are hoping to move into by the end of the month, which is twice the size of what we have now. Needs TLC, but the price is a nice $65k.

Good luck on getting into the new house. That will be a nice upgrade as well as less tears.

That sucks, but yay for finding a new place! Anything dealing with money through friends/family can get weird quickly.

looks like sweet place. There is a lot of nature in the back there lol. Situations sucks for sure man. I'd be hella pissed family friend of not. I hope you close on that sweet place. It is a crazy good price buddy! I am currently closing on a place myself. Hopefully also by the end of the month

Reason #385 why I try to never rely on anyone else. They will inevitably let you down or fuck shit up.
Hope you can get this straightened out. And there's few things better than getting the keys to your new house.

Naw, that's the only main heating source besides the wood-burning stove. My wife would kill me if I blew up the propane tank.
Perhaps after we switch to natural gas?

Yeah. The house we want is actually owned by another friend of the family. Except she got married and moved in with her husband. So she just wants to get rid of the house. :)

Yep, the bedrooms are small, but the rest of it is huge. The living room used to be a double car garage. So it's massive!

I know one thing better, knowing that the payments for the house will stop. Right now, rent is $525. For the new house it's <$400 (I forget the amount). That's also real nice, :).

yea. whats the first things on your list? I replaced a main beam, just kinda hoped for the best as we went along. Still holds the floor up 2 yrs later. I took a screen porch and turned it into a dinning room (insulated walls, replaced screens with real windows, added a heating system - hot water radiant floors are awesome and easy to put it)

Not sure about termites, but the roof is new. A big tree fell on it a couple years ago. Also, just above the black tab in the pic is roughly where the property ends. It's also on (I think) the highest hill on the grounds. And, the house I'm renting currently is about....maybe 2000 feet to the left? It's real close.

Lol, let's see. This is my wife's list from last week.
the basement needs the most work. Bathroom #2 hasn't been used in a while from the looks of it.

tile is easy. just make sure to have a solid layer of mortar under it. trims a bitch. cut it bigger than it should be, fit, trim a little off, fit, trim, fit, cut too much off, scream, go drink beer. they have cool, low cost laminate floor that looks like hard wood. easy to put down. i'd slide everything cleaning related to her list.
