Sandro Espinosa started near the rear of the 40-car Spec E30 field at the NASA East Coast Nationals at Road Atlanta last weekend. Less than 40 minutes later, he was on the podium and after the dust settled in post-race tech, he was the East Coast Champion.

Sit down and strap in ladies and gentlemen this is the Playing In Traffic Advanced course, also known as PIT 301. Today we are going to learn how to do the 3 pedaled tango. This guy is seriously good about moving through the crowd, there were a few close calls but I think that was damn near perfect especially considering there were 39 other cars taking up the space.

And that is officially the best E30 drive I've ever seen. Just awesome. I'm toying with the idea of building a spec E46 car now that the series is gaining a bit of a following. Hope it turns out like this!

The best thing about the SpecE30 series are the huge car counts. I usually run with NASA Southeast and they typically have 15-20 car fields. I have several friends who race or have raced SpecE30 and there is great competition and camaraderie. What could be better? I hope the other BMW spec series are as successful as E30, but I hope the old cars can stick around for a while.

I think the big deal for the spec E46 series is that they use MCS single adjustable suspension and a much more modern (obviously) chassis. The minimum weight is 2800-something pounds with driver, so it should be a blast with those engines making 230-250hp. If the field fills out I think the action could be just as good as SE30. The builds should remain affordable (cars are like $4-6k right now), even with the real race parts. SE30 is a great series and I have friends (club guys) who run it up here in the northeast, but there's always room for more BMW racing, right? =)

An epic drive, but I did see contact on a number of those passes.
