... Or at least my dorms Grand Prix go cart team. I have to take a cart that is at least two years out of spec and turn it into a hopefully semi competitive vehicle. I'll probably bug you guys for help when the time arrives. I haven't actually seen the cart yet btw...

Needs moar rake!
Pull the motor and head to the machine shop, challenge then to bore it out, forged internals, and run it on meth for a lap, damn near blowing it up (but dont actually blow it up). Then get out like the stig, and walk away without saying a word.
No one else will want to mess with you after that. Also, do a burnout to get the ladies as you cross the finish line.
Or, you know, new safety belts, foam on the cage, clean the motor, and hope it lasts all semester.

Well, there are 2 sides of every story. From the FSAE team's side:
They had the car running and needed to test it with some low speed driving around, asked admin if they could do so on campus roads without getting out of hand to test the vehicle initially before lugging it to the track and having issues they didn't realize.
Day comes, they probably gave it a bit more juice than necessary, but nothing completely out of hand. Admin forgot some important people were going to be on campus that day, said people (investors?) weren't impressed with the FSAE team driving around... Admin immediately banned FSAE.
The car still sits practically ready in the shop. Barely anyone even knows what it is... I also highly doubt many people know this story there.

The motors are held in with like, 5 bolts right? Get a couple spare ones, and build them up nice and beefy. Also, stinger exhaust. Anything with more wheels than cylinders needs a stinger exhaust.
That and rusty slammington front lip, and I think you should get polished chrome roll cage, and torch it for a while. Theres a beautiful color chart with associated heat for chromed things. Look it up, and get a "naturally" rainbow finished chrome cage.

How normal is this??? I'm Canadian and have never heard about this at all. FSAE on the other hand is strong up here, not balls to the wall dorm go karting.

We're pretty much the only school that I know of that does this.
