Am I out of touch, or does anyone else think that $160 is really steep?

Oil change, tire rotation, multi-point inspection, and fluid top off.

$160 for lunch is really steep. $160 for 4 wheels and tires is pretty damn good.

Inspection - 1hr - $90

Oil change - $45

Tire rotation - 1/2hr - $45

Fluid top-off - $20

I'd say you're out of touch :P

Dude, that's perfectly reasonable. I dream of 160 dollar services. I get 350 dollars oil changes :(

That is insane. Everything you said is just part of "the works" which is a $40 service tops.

Everything but the inspection sounds like something that could be done in your garage in 1-2 hours depending on your level of mechanical inclination. Unless your time is limited.

ehh, doesn't sound too bad I guess (I have never taken a car in for anything but tires and alignment so I have no idea). I might want a snack while you wait at least for that kind of money though. Do you have to have them do it for the warranty or something?

It's not bad. You could have done everything except the inspection.

Yeah no. You're out of touch on this one.

Nope. Got the 15k service on my Mustang for $40, and I have twice the oil capacity.

Seems pricey to me for what you get, but not expensive in terms of having it done at a dealership. If you're not averse to 2 trips, Discount Tire rotates for free (or the ones near me do). The inspection at most places is usually free. At least on the last few vehicles I've had at dealers (none have been Fords, the ST is my first).

And wow, 15k. I need to drive more. I've hit 4 months of ownership and I'm only at 1600 miles. 400 of those put on by my sister last week!

So basic oil change special. Yeah I wouldn't pay that. How many quarts of oil and what type?

No I'm not. Going to any shop not running a special to get dumb customers in the door to replace their mufflerbearings, an inspection is going to cost 1hr of labor, an oil change is going to cost more than the price of oil, tire rotations aren't free (go ask your local shop for a free tire rotation) and fluids don't come out of a well.

I've now done 4 services at a Ford dealer. All of my services consist of oil, fluids, inspection, and rotation, and all have been $40. We're not talking about a mom and pop shop that can do 10 cars a day and buy their oil in limited amounts, but a Ford dealer that has 5 hoists turning 100s of these cars around in 20-30 minutes each. They order the fluids in bulk, and generally they only need to top off very little amounts (apart from oil). Most dealers even will top off your fluids for free whenever if you bought the car from them - I know I can bring my Mustang to Tom Holzer Ford anytime for any fluid topoff at no cost to me. The inspection is very basic - tred depth, battery level, brake pad thickness and thats about it. Its all about building loyalty with these basic things so that when something big and costly goes wrong, I go to them and not someone else.

And as far as free tire rotations go, Most of the shops here will offer free lifetime rotations if you buy the tires from them.

But if you want to keep paying $160 for a basic oil change and rotation, be my guest.

I don't. I perform maintenance myself when possible. I'm just saying that $160 for a 15k oil change and inspection isn't ridiculous.

Just have The Works package done. i paid 70 something (well.. I didn't end up paying because of the worst dealership ever (check out my story about it somewhere in my profile)) for Full Synthetic, tire rotation and multipoint. If you do the standard synth-blend, it's like 40 or so. MAKE SURE THEY USE THE RIGHT GODDAMN TYPE OF OIL THOUGH. Our Focus ST's take 5W-30, but there's been a lot of posts about techs putting in the 5w-20 that's required for normal focuses (foci?) and the owner having to fight to get it done right.
