Very cool truck. And your Jetta is my favorite out of all of those.

Yeah it's awesome! Piss yellow original paint and a four on the floor with (basically) no power! It's fun to drive though cause you can rev the balls off of it! The engine is indestructible!

Looks very composed. Does it get good mileage if you drive it rough?

That's the best I've gotten.. however my mom claimed to have gotten 54.1 avg one time with the A/C off (I always drive with it on LOL) and the windows down... without revving it over 2k rpm haha

How's the reliability? This is a car I'm interested in for sometime in the future.

The only problem I've had is with the hatch latch (say that 5 times fast ;) dying on me and having to lock it shut... 2k miles out of warranty >:-/ $240 later it was replaced and fixed. Also, the tires I have on it are down to 30% tread after (I think) 25k miles while they were rated to 50k miles, but small problem. Also oil changes are ridiculous! Would you do them yourself or have a dealer do it?

I'd do it myself. I'm fairly knowledgable about Diesels. Thanks for the info.

The car uses "special" "VW approved" oil that is like $10 a quart! That and you have to unbolt the fuel lines to get to the fuel filter! If you don't want to undo like 15 screws on the bottom of the engine (which let me tell you isn't easy to access without a pit or a full car lift) you need a sucker that you stick in the dipstick tube to suck the oil out!

I worked at a Jiffy Lube like 4 years ago, and VW diesel filters were (keyword apparently) easy to get to, but like every German car there were these PITA skid plates underneath.

Kinja'd!!!

But I have the tools to deal with it.

Just get a little suction thing and suck it out the dipstick tube! We do it and it takes maybe an extra 5 minutes not including the time saved from not taking the plastic guard off the bottom!

That is, interesting. But it should work. That's how we changed out coolant at JL. Hmm

LOL we had to get creative after I tried to fit under the car without jacking it up (it has 6 inches of ground clearance under the engine lmao) I just could not fit LOL
