This is somewhat in response to jbh’s post on the “flooding” he encountered in NY; which by the way I’m just joking with you; I’m sure it was much deeper in person haha.
Now, I live near the ohio river and it can flood from time to time. A couple of years ago, it was especially bad (or exciting, depending on perspective). At the time I drove a Jeep TJ. It was basically stock aside from some american racing wheels (offset widening the stance a little) and subsequently fitted with 31” tires on stock suspension. Naturally, I wouldn’t let a little water stop me...I had a Jeep! Then one day, I came to this:
*Probably 4’+ of water and debris at it’s deepest point*
I started to go in as usual, but began to realize how deep it really was. This ended up being the one time I ended up reversing out. I knew it was going to end up flooding my car for sure, as the road dips around the corner (as you can see better in the second picture). I mean, if it wasn’t my only car maybe I’d give it a whirl, but probably not; I didn’t even have a snorkel on her. The Jeep being my only car and my biggest asset; this one time I was forced to concede defeat.
This flooding usually made for some fun times, though. Like the time I scared a date of mine. It was late (maybe 2am) and very dark out and I neglected to mention we would be traversing several feet of water. Needless to say; her reaction was classic when the water sprayed up all around us. She probably thought we were going to drown. Or the time a cop decided to block off a portion of the road with cones, of which I ignored, because I had a Jeeeep! Unfortunate for me, this was a trap. When he pulled me over he greeted me with, “I hope that was fun.” The way he said it pissed me off. Long story short; I got a hefty ticket...for driving through water. Good times.
Anyone else have any flood stories? Post them here!!!

I drove across a creek once in my Outback after my friends told me it couldn't be done.
That's all I've got haha

Really? That's surprising...Torinos have long been revered for there ability to traverse water.

A challenge I failed to meet. Remorse and shame is all I had left after that...that and a functioning Jeep lol.

Could you crack the block from that? I would just be worried of electrics and the car stalling from taking in water through the intake.

If the block is hot enough yes, its cast iron. Also you could crack the exaust manifolds

I know this is old, you linked it so I’ll comment.
I have a lifted XJ on 33’s with stuff. So have gone through a couple water crossings.
On vacation to FL, driving my now wife’s Equinox we drove through Memphis, which the interstate was flooded or whatever. This was around 08 & just before I got a smart phone. We were routed off the interstate, but wasn’t sure exactly how to get around and back on the highway. There were a couple streets that had about 200’ length of standing water. People were turning around. I was like F-it, watched the water level, didn’t get above half the height of the tire while pushing the water. I was good, my parents followed with their explorer. A guy in a caddy figured it was low enough after we went through.
No problems. In a suv or something with some ground clearance as long as the tires are above water, you're good. Just know where your air intake is and don't plow into water in dramatic fashion.
