See that gigantic scratch all down the side of his car?

The one that, were it mine, would see me weeping and plotting the demise of the shopping cart?

This is not Superficial, Francois. This is like coming home to see missing siding on your house! Which is partially apt because it is the second largest purchase you'll ever make.

And wash your car once in a while.

I'm like embarrassed to drive my car right now.

Kinja'd!!!

I was soooo mad. So mad. The insurance process is underway, but I can't be seen in public like that.

My RR fender is rippled, my hood doesn't match, my car has little scuffs all over it and they all bother the fuck out of me as I drive down the road......

No one else notices the small ones but I do..

The most heinous offense of parking lot vehicular damage commited to me was when I had my old truck. There I was chilling in the lot before work, engine idling (keep in mind, this was a 6BT with a muffler delete), guy pulls in next to me, I feel the truck shake a little bit. This jackass opened his door into mine so hard that it not only transferred paint but dented the metal.

Now, my truck may not have been the prettiest thing but the lack of respect coupled with the fact that I was fucking sitting in it with the engine running makes this an incredibly agregous offense.

Kinja'd!!!

*sigh* I miss my truck.

My roommate drives a brand new Chevy Cruze. It has ~1,000 miles on it, and he's had it maybe a month.

It currently has more body damage on it than my 2007 Volvo with ~77,000 miles.

Driving with him is actually terrifying. I'm not a backseat driver, but when he gets in the left lane to pass, only to go back to the slow lane to exit, exceeding 85mph in the rain, I put my foot down.

His excuse is that he just got out of driving an Isuzu Rodeo, and now that he drives a "sporty" car (I wouldn't call a Cruze sporty by any means), he can do things he never once could...

F****** idiot.

This is why I've decided that I could never buy a new (or even nearly-new) car. I'd just freak out far too much about damage.

My Volvo came with plenty of door dings and bumper scuffs already. Sure, I'd be mad if it accumulated more damage somehow, but nowhere near as much as I'd be if it were immaculate beforehand. Especially since I've been to blame for all the damage that I've done so far in my driving career (thankfully only ever to my own cars). Never anything too serious, but still enough to leave marks that remind me forever about how much of an idiot I was. If there are plenty that I can blame previous owners for, too, it masks the pain slightly.
