I finally got the 17mm 12 point socket I needed, so now the old clutch and flywheel are out.

Kinja'd!!!

The old flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate.

Kinja'd!!!

Wear on the fingers.

Kinja'd!!!

Old and new.

Kinja'd!!!

Wear difference.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

The aftermath.

Now to try and get the ******* transmission bolted to the damn engine. I had to take off literally every damn bolt holding the transmission up so this might be the hardest part. Spent half an hour trying to do it myself, I'll be getting my brother in law to help me this weekend.

I have so many scrapes on my wrists trying to mount the flywheel.

It looks worn but not too crazy. Throw out bearing is trash though dayum. I bet it made noise like a mofo

The clutch was a damn death trap, I was the only one who was able to drive it. It wouldn't fully lock until the driveline was at 3k rpm, and even then a bit to much gas would slip it. It was super frustrating to drive, and my dad almost couldn't drive it to my house when I got my FiST.

Man, the throwout bearing on my Miata was such a bitch to remove I just said "Yeah, it's good enough" (it was actually pretty new still) and left it in.

dayum, I remember driving cars like that. Would the clutch get stuck down sometimes?

Mad respect to you and people who can (almost) change their own clutches :) I wish I could do the same. I have an Accord myself and had to get my clutch replaced by a mechanic (gasp!).

It wouldn't get stuck, but you could feel that it wasn't fully clamping until it got some momentum.

Honestly the only reason I tried it myself was because I got a new car and had the time to learn. Google and youtube are excellent resources, although some stuff like getting the transmission out of the way I kinda played by ear. "can I fit my hand in there yet? Okay, lets take off this bolt. Can I fit in now? Okay, I'll take this bolt out..." and so on. I would have gotten a mechanic to do it if it was my only car.

Hill starts were the worst, I felt bad for the people stuck behind me.

It was mostly the edge of the case that was busting me up.

"I did most of a thing" is an epic title. In truth though I found the most impressive photos to be the ones with that beautiful Milwaukee lithium drill/driver, which I hope is also a hammer drill because everyone needs a little percussion in their daily life.

Haha thanks! Sadly it isn't the hammer drill, I didn't feel like spending the extra money on it when I can just go rent a giant corded one.
