I've worked hard, got a job and am finally financially capable of getting a new car. My dream car is the F-Type Coupe (V6 or V6S). When I saw her at an auto show for the first time in person, I knew I wanted her. Her throaty voice, those eyes and that ass.....mhhhm. (I mean, just look at the iPotato photos I took!)
I digress. I took a test drive and was negotiating to get one. I had to drop that. Unfortunately, my job involves traveling and there's a chance I'll have a "growth opportunity" in another country next year. I don't want to buy (read, marry) it and get hit by staggering depreciation (i.e., divorce). If I get a lease, it will be expensive to get out of it. So do you guys know how I can take over someone else's lease? I looked into LeaseTrader. The reviews suggest that its a scam. Is there any other way I can get a car I like?
I know I can't get the F-Type Coupe with 1 year left on the lease. I like the Cayman S a lot too. And the previous M3. So if I can get those for a year through some sort of lease transfer, that would amazing :) But I don't know much about leases and what a lease transfer entails (How often do you walk/feed those things again?).
So help me with a link/tutorial to leases and lease transfer sites. If someone could actually explain transferring a lease or tell me about how they/their friends did a transfer, that would be great too!

What you need is a Geo Prism for the next year until you can determine whether or not you will travel (move) abroad. Then you can shell out the serious dough and make a commitment.
I have no actual help for you. I've never leased a car myself but I do think you should wait and advance that career even further in the meantime!

Have you considered the Aston Martin DBS? The MP4-12C would also be a great fit for you.

I would love to get one of those too. But I can't afford the MP4-12C and I already have a fax machine (I'm kidding :)) The Aston, can I get like an '08 - '09 on a lease transfer? Because my budget is $1000 a month....

I have the Handa I bought when I was in school a while back. Even if I get another car, I'll hold on to this one. This ones' my first :)

I've been looking at possibly transferring my BMW lease to someone else. It basically works like this:
1. Find someone who wants to take over the lease (thru craigslist or lease trading sites) and has a similar or better credit rating than myself.
2. Have the person fill out a lease transfer application with BMW and pay a $500 lease transfer fee.
3. Wait for BMW to approve the lease transfer. If they don't, $400 out of the $500 fee gets returned.
4. Fill out lease assumption paperwork and hand over the car to the new lessee.
Some brands have different policies. BMW for example, completely removes the original lessee so if the person taking it over messes up on payments, it doesn't matter to the person who originally leased the car.
Audi on the other hand (and probably other companies) keeps the original lessee as a guarantor, so if the new person messes up the payments, Audi can go after the original person for money, on a car they no longer have.
So...you'll probably see more BMWs than Audis available.

Awesome! This helps:) Now I need to find a website I won't get ripped off at (LeaseTrader) and then find people like you with an M3. Any ideas? Also, what kinda BMW are you thinking of parting with?
