Wasn't the 2.8 a bit of a dog?

Yeah. Beggars can't be choosers at $1200. I'm in no kind of hurry, just late night shopping. Probably will wait for a perfect 4.3

Worst case, if you find a perfect 2.8, a 4.3 is probably an easy swap.

That looks like a pretty nice S-15. I can't remember the last time I saw one with a long bed.

Wait for a perfect 5.2

Please do not buy a 2.8. I may have to tell horror stories

That's a dodge though. Also bigger than I want.

Damn straight it's a Dodge, but I'm confused as to your "bigger" statement - they're marginally bigger than an S-10, and that's only to accommodate the V8.

But holy crap Daks are expensive in your neck of the woods!

If it's like my Ranger, less than $150 for clutch/throwout bearing/slave cylinder/maybe a couple other things.
