Really though, they're apparently pretty good cars. Good for Kia/Hyundai for finally building cars that aren't utter shit. I could make a garage I would be happy with using only their products. Something I probably couldn't say five years ago.

They've really been making some great cars as of late. My Mom got a 2012 Optima a few years ago, loaded and the price was amazing. It was great car, comfy, smooth, good looks and had plenty of power. Then we traded it for the Cadenza, got the first one sold in the U.S. And that was more of the same, just much nicer and slightly bigger. I also really enjoy the V6 over the Turbo 4, which had some turbo lag. Then we traded that one for another Cadenza, just to get in to a lease. It's kind of funny, five years ago I would have laughed if you told me a Kia was a good car, now there's one in my garage!

As crappy as they supposedly used to be, we had a 1999 Sportage that we never had a problem with in over 120k miles. We just maintained it, and it never gave out.

I sure hope they've improved... my parents had a 2011 Sportage and it was a piece of sh*t. Radio and Bluetooth broke, the automatic transmission was garbage, it was built cheaply (plastic fantastic), and it looked as boring as it drove (very).

The first car pictured has 201hp, a 6speed manual transmission, has a touchscreen, heated seats, and looks good.

I like it. only problem with it is that IT'S A KIA. call me a brand snob, but I will never, ever spend my money on a car that bears that badge. Hyundai? Maybe.... if i had to, but a KIA???? nope, nuh-uh, never. And i mean it! they're never gonna make the GT-4 Stinger, so i won't have to go back on my word!

There is a sturdiness and feeling of quality on the touch points of the BMW that the kia never had. In this i mean things like door handles, glove box latches, heaviness of doors, various buttons in the car. That being said I had features on my Kia that i don't have in my BMW despite being twice the Kia's MSRP. These include air-conditioned front seats, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, panoramic roof, and a spare tire. I love my BMW from stem to stern and it makes me smile every day that I get in it. The Kia was a very respectable car that looked great and drove well. I just never connected with it.

Nice breakdown of what you like about the BMW compared to the Kia. Yes there are other cars that cost less that have more features, it's the same with my C300, however I look at it as while all those cheaper (price wise) cars have more features the build quality doesn't compare. So instead of throwing everything + the kitchen sink into the car they [BMW] focused on making the car look and feel great and if your budget allows you can order panoramic roof and such.
