I mean, only if you're super into input lag, exhaust notes that would make Gran Turismo point and laugh, aimless missions, soulless environments, lackluster visuals, and a framerate cap at 30.

Technical issues aside, it's still a really bad game.

A racing game lives and dies by how it handles. The Cars feel floaty, and even after fixing the lag (turned off v-sync) the controls still felt imprecise.

Oh, and I also couldn't re-map the controls for upshifts and downshifts, so I was forced to use the analog sticks and that was awful. That meant that I had to play in automatic mode and that was even worse.

It's poorly optimized. And while, yeah, that was just a beta, some of the things I took issue with were beyond optimization. It's really too bad, though. I was super looking forward to playing this game.

I'm waiting for Steam to refund me my cheddar.

I know. The issues are skin deep in addition to the myriad of technical bullshit.

I played an hour and a half of it and went from cheerful anticipation to alt+f4-ing the motherfucker into oblivion.

I had my settings maxxed out. They're really flat, lifeless. It could get better out in different environments, but what I had played of was really disappointing. I drove around a lot of the Midwest and East Coast, including New York City.

One thing that a lot of people probably appreciate less than I do are engine notes. And it's not just that they aren't good in the Crew, it's that they're fucking obnoxious.

This is basically every racing game we get on PC. Racing sims are better handling but most of them look like dog poo. Assetto Corsa and Dirt3 are the best racing games I have right now. I'm hoping Project Cars is awesome.

These two companies just suck major balls. Their PC ports are the worst. The exception is Battlefield games because they feel like they were designed for PC first and then ported to consoles.

For me all this game has to be like is TDU for me to buy it. I miss having a ludicrously giant world to cock about in besides between Project Cars and Horizon 2 I think my racing scratch will be satisfied whether or not The Crew will be better than Horizon 2 when it comes to just driving around I'll have to wait and see.

Well this is slightly depressing. I'm ditching the Xbox Empire and getting a PS4 and since I'll no longer have Forza to kick around, I was placing all my chips on Project Cars/Driveclub/The Crew, because... what else could I do?

Driveclub is capped at 30 fps. The Crew has always looked suspect to me what with its stupidass demo saying "it's more than a game, it's a social experience!" and what looked like fakeass Midnight Club-type cars.

Putting all my money on Project Cars now. Spin that wheel.

Just tried the beta, and the thing that bothers me the most is certainly the engine notes.

The game in itself could go with a bit more optimization as well, At least I managed to get 45 FPS no problem. As long as it stays over 30 FPS it's not that bad.

I believe the lack of VSync is what was causes certain issues, and stuttery cutscenes. Gameplay of the beta has been decent otherwise.
