...and still needs to get an additional 44,000 signatures. to be even considered for debate.
We all know it's unlikely to actually change anything, but surely it'd be worth getting it to 100,000 signatures just to hear government try and find some proper justification for not repealing the law.

If they do try to justify it, they'll probably say something like only criminals and street racers import cars or something ridiculous like that. In other words, they're basing laws off what they see in a Fast and Furious film.

I don't think so... look at the Land Rover Defenders problems... hardly "street racers" owners...
As far as the signatures goes, that will not reach the 100.000 signatures... Sucks, but well, Jalops are a small community.

Nah, they'd have no proof to back up any claims like this anyway. Also they are aware that the reason behind was Mercedes lobbying for the law. They'd probably argue for some kind of protection of the national automotive industry or something... Or protection of the used car dealership lobby... Or the "danger" of driving a right hand drive car in the US...etc etc etc lots of things to easily shut down any possible discution.

I naively had high hopes for this petition because it got to 50K in a couple of days but clearly the hype train has left the station. So long Stratos.....

next time we should let everyone (car and track, Nissan communities, drift communities...etc) before going fourth with the petition. Set a date to start, we got close but it took too many people to find out about it. Plan maybe a month in advance, by then tons of people will and at least have a glance at an advertisement (any means necessary) about the subject. Just a thought. I'll donate my time to design graphics and even a dedicated website/blog on the subject. Sethberno@msn.com
