The extent of the damage on the escape is pretty bad. I could pull some of the trim off without releasing the fasteners. Hell, it's the only way I could pull them off, the metal is that rotten. rocker panel trim can't be removed just yet, so sit tight, and lets soon unveil the rot once it comes off.
but yeah, I love my (temporary) turbodiesel companion.

Damn, where the hell is this Escape from? The bottom of the ocean?

I'm sure you could say that, it basically is an ocean (of snow) over here during a snowstorm.

this is actually really common. Just goes to show that plastic trim doesn't stop rust, he'll it might even make it worse.

exactly. I always get uneasy seeing rust on plastic trimmed vehicles.

Escapes are really reliable too, Its really rare for them to get THAT rusty

It's common for a car to rust out within 10 years over here. Mazda 3's are the usual culprits.

indeed. Mud flaps can do the same thing if not properly installed.

are you near the ocean?, because if you are, that would make a lot of sense

Hah, our city is terrible about plowing and using road salt. (Northern idaho by the way so snow is expected every year.)
