I also looked at importing one into canada, if its a mexican car it only has to be 10yrs old instead of 15.Although im betting it would still cost me $3000-5000 to import one including price of the car, i think the cost would be prohibitive.

I do wish there was some loophole that allowed companies to sell older models. I mean imagine how cheap an old fourth gen civic would be now? A chunk of a cars cost is just in covering Rn'D costs, but that's gone if a model has already been produced for 5 years, but manufactures have to replace old models to keep up with new government safety, and emissions standards, and because people go crazy over anything NEW. But I think there is a market for a cheap car (sub 10,000 USD)with a full warranty, and an odo that reads only a few hundred miles. No power steering, no a/c, no fancysmancy radio, no ABS, and TCS, just a bare bones economy car that gets 40+mpg with a five speed manual.

or you could just live near the border and have a buddy across the river keep it registered for you. My parents live in a border town in Texas and you see lots of Mexico only cars there because people live in Mexico be work in America.

you can buy one, and swap parts onto an old USDM Sentra.

Not unless you manage to just buy a 1992 Sentra with ~100 miles or so.

what about this...

Buy one in mexico, but simultaneously buy an old Sentra in the US. Have someone part out the Tsuru in mexico, then get the parts stateside, rebuild it, and put the old Sentra vin on it!

What could possibly go wrong?
