There was a Kaiser Darrin on the Tour d'Elegance last Thursday in Carmel, one of the cars that would be on the lawn in the Concours on Sunday. I'm pretty sure it was this one in this color (and there are only 435 of them, so two cropping up in a week would be pretty unusual). So it's likely he (she?) saw it somewhere near Monterey in the last few days.
