I'm thinking of buying back one of my old projects that I never did anything with... I could probably get it for $200-250, and I /know/ I could turn it into a monster...

Only do the RX-7 if you want to/have cheap/easy access to someone who will help you swap a Ford 302 in there. Otherwise, it's not worth trying to restore the original motor and drivetrain if the body is that rough.
