Remember when I said that my big boss promised me a training about LNG trucks and that only 1 or 2 people would get it in the garage? Well someone else got it instead of me and I wasn't even informed of this! I was waiting thinking that it got delayed but no, my bosses didn't say shit and acted like nothing happened, until I asked to one of the sub-bosses I'm cool with: "Any idea when I'll get my LNG training? It's been more than 2 weeks already...". I got this response: "That training was already done 2 weeks ago. The night boss got the training with the other guy right there. Why? You were supposed to get a training?". I got deceived one time too many there. Because of this dick move, I can't touch LNG components on trucks at all!

I've massively applied to other places today and guess what? I found out that a newly built garage from a renowned truck rental company is hiring new mechanics as we speak. The hours are pleasant (2 pm to 10 pm Monday to Friday instead of 7 am to 5:30 pm Friday to Monday). My toolbox will be insured, I get work boots and benefits. I get 13 days off including one for my birthday, a 500$ gift certificate for tools if I pass the approval process and 325$ per year for tools. I start at 25.66$ minimum + a bonus for working at night. But you know what's the best? The highway I'll use to get there is normally traffic and cops free and the place is not that far from my house! So please wish me the best of luck Oppo!

The hours don't sound great but everything else sounds positive. That should be a great move. More people need to handle these situations similarly, too many people deal with it and stick with jobs and they'll just keep fucking you over. Fuck it! There's something better and this is proof!

Work as a heavy duty mechanic for 3 yrs at a renowned place, get all the training you can get, make sure you have your high-school diploma and wait for the moment while searching for jobs EVERYWHERE.

I almost kept going with this shit. I was waiting for my trainings but today, I said fuck it. I'm getting weaker and weaker because I think too much about stuff at work. I lost quite a chunk my physical force that I had when I started. It's enough...and waking up at 6 am is NOT for me!

Rock on man. I hope the gig at the shiny new place works out. Sounds like they're interested in retaining top quality folks. How are they on training? I recall your old place trained you on a fair bit of stuff, though they kinda F'd you on the LNG. Would the new place get you LNG'd up?

Everything else sounds great. It's second shift, but it's second shift on normal weekdays like regular folk, not killing your weekends.

Good luck man, I don't want to take away from it, but is 13 paid days off per year good for America?

In Australia we have the minimum 4 weeks and another 10 days sick leave. I suppose you guys have cheaper everything though.

From what I've seen on their website, their employees get the latest training on trucks all the time. They have Freightliners but they don't have LNG trucks if I recall. It really seems like a awesome place tho!

13 sick days as a start is good! It's been 3 yrs where I work now and we had ZERO sick days and I had 10 days for vacation...

I can totally agree on having a better commute too, I moved house a few months ago and went from 30mins of bumper traffic with 13 sets of traffic lights (all red, every time) to 22 mins of open road with a small a string of roundabouts at the end (which are enormously fun in the MR2)

I start my new job in three weeks. Only one other coworker knows. I'm getting a 22% raise so that I'm actually getting normal compensation for the work I do. Hopefully the workload remains steady instead of "thumb up my ass" one day to "the world is ending" the next. Oh and my current bosses can die in a fire.

I won't make more than them by a lot but maybe I'll get raises here instad of "Well we'd give you a raise but....." which I've heard for both of my reviews and I heard at a 6-month review that I asked for after I started to see if I was worth the money I was asking. That sucked so hard to ehar time and time again that I was "not worth it" before I finally realized that no, I was, but my boss is the worst manager possible for this role.

It's always like this...they told me when I started that I'll be at 14$/h for a short period of time and that I'll get a raise in 3 months. It took them one year to finally consider me permanent and get raised to 17.50$+2.50$ bonus for working on weekends. What sucked even more, is the friends of the boss always gets the nice jobs...and you're stuck doing lights and small stuff when you're supposed to get the big stuff to develop yourself. All because you aren't much friends with the boss. Then you regress and make more mistake because of your frustration, which makes you look bad to the other mechanics. People get stuff that you don't get then you question yourself even more as to WHY is this happening? Then you lose hope on your little sweet place to grow in this job. You think you're bad, you over work yourself to compensate. When in reality, it just wasn't your place. I realized it when I did my internship in another garage. I should had left 2 yrs ago.
