I've never been to an autocross and I want to go to my first one, but I'm a little terrified of embarrassing myself. Tell me: How do you not get lost on the course?

Nice. I've had so many problems with mine this year I've barely been able to take it to any autocrosses. I hope I at least get it out on the kart track before the season's over.

Learning the course is easy, knowing what to do on the course is harder. Ask people to ride along and give suggestions on what to do in the course. I am a little shy so I don't do it often, but the one time I did, my times improved by nearly 2 seconds!

That means it is yours now, right?

I drive an old 5-cylinder quattro, so "what to do" can be summed up in "left foot brake or understeer", lol.

Well no no no, there is a certain way to navigate the course to be fastest in your car. It is kind of hard to see when you are starting out but after a while you will get the hang of it. It isn't about car control! Although, that is important too.

I know, generally in my car, I need to brake a tad bit earlier, set up the turn by letting the car settle, and get on the power just before the apex before I remove my foot fully from the brake pedal. If I brake late and crank the wheel off-throttle, the car will understeer. It's sort of a weird combination of FWD techniques and RWD techniques overlapping.

Not quite... I did buy a part for the car though
