I autocrossed for the first time today, and it was fan-tastic!
No, don't worry, I didn't use a Prius... but I had Prius tires!!! Which made for some rather noisy, sideways, and extremely fun runs.
Put down a best time of 58.08. Really wanted to break into 57's, but I'm fairly happy considering it was my first time and my car is completely stock and still running the Michelin Primcay's (which have almost no grip haha) Can't wait to go again!!!

Learn how to make the most out of those shitty tires, that'll set you up better for when you buy stickier sporty compounds.

Oppo has really spawned a strong AutoX crowd this summer, and I love it.
Nice!

Based off Prius tires I assume you have either a BRZ or an FR-S. Am I correct?

Yeah, that's what I'm planning on. Running these through the rest of the season (3 more events) and then I will upgrade to new wheels and tires next spring.

I'm really wanting to go to my first one here soon. I just need to get a few more things done on the Audi maintenance and repair wise.

You will feel out classed with those crappy tires but it is all well worth it! Soon you will start creeping up on times in your class. Then you will feel like a badass! Plus they are the best to learn on
I have been on mine for nearly 2 seasons, and it is a blast!

Yeah, I was the only Toyobaru there on stock rubber/everything else and I was coming pretty close to most of the other guys' times. All my previous modification ideas have gone out the window and now I'm just thinking about what I can do to increase run times. lol This spring I will get new wheels (probably 17x8 Gram Lights 57DRs) and some good rubber. For now, I will have fun making the Primacies scream all day! haha

If you are doing SCCA events, remember that 17x8 will put you into STX. I know 57DRs come in 17x9 et38 which is a perfect fit and will put you at the widest tire allowed for the class!

Great point. I need to look at the classes again and see where I want to be, and make my decision off of that. The event I did over the weekend was just with the Windy City Miata Club. Gonna go my first Chicago SCCA event next month, so I will get a better idea of where I can be the most competitive.

I am going to that event too! Chicago SCCA events are great, only problem is the course is dusty the first round so if you go then, you are basically clean up crew!

I forgot to mention that the FRS is super competitive in STX. Like we are kings there.

Nice!
Well, I will be completely stock until next season but it sounds like 17x9 will be the size to get!
