cool photo!

Just a little scary cause it makes it look like she has been imprisoned.

Your photos are well framed, but their a little flat. Try messing with the ISO and FStop

The car ones I was playing around with the ISO at 200 for it.

It should have been at 100 for full sunlight, also mess around with aperture settings

My camera only goes down to 200 but yeah that is what I do Is play around with settings to get some cool shots.

just take some dumb photos to get acquainted with your camera's manual settings, then delete them. that way you can approximate your need for specific settings quickly in the field.

I think the thing that makes them look a little... underwhelming(? maybe?) would be a lack of motion. Try going with shutter speed priority. Set the shutter to around 100 or 125th of a sec. You will have to follow the cars with the camera, and the better you get at tracking the car in the viewfinder, the better your shots will be. Try to keep the car center to just a bit off, with a little extra space in front of the car. When you do it right, the you will get a bit of blur in the space behind the car, while the car itself remains sharp.

dont know what you are on about. I keep all my blondes in cages. Brunettes in the cold cellar so they don't wilt and redheads in the airing cupboard. Best thing for them. Also prevents damage to the whole crop in case of Ford infestation.

Thanks Jeff. NASCAR weekend was not one of my best weekend of photos. That is why I posted more from the 6 Hours of the Glen.

Your shots are good, no mistaking that. It's just that like anyone, in any field, there is room to improve. I think that if you drag the shutter a bit more, it will give the shots a sense of speed that is not being conveyed as effectively as it could. The little extra room at the front makes it look like it is going faster, but like on the Jamie Mac shot, it is perfect having the car crowd the front a bit since you can see the car is hard on the brakes. Practice with just tracking the car in the viewfinder. Now, you may also find that the autofocus will screw you over here as well. Another trick is to set up the shot you want before you even aim the camera. Pick a spot on the track that you want the shot to happen, and set your focus for that distance. Since you plan on using some motion blur, you don't have to set the f wide open. Then set your focus to where you can consistently hit the shutter and get the shot you want. Once you have that spot in focus, leave the focus in manual and don't shift it. As the car comes around the track, it will be in focus when you want to hit the shutter, so you will have to deal with the car being a bit blurry until it's in the right spot. It's kind of like picking a brake marker on a corner; you know that you need to hit the brakes when the car gets to that spot, so when the car passes your "shutter marker," you get the shot and make history!
