My mother in-law is getting remarried next weekend. My boys and I are going to have the whole day on Friday to do whatever we want. I've never been to Nashville and I'm not a big country music fan.
Anything cool that I can do with my boys related to cars, planes, motorcycles, etc... Any cool car or airplane musuems, hot rod shops..? Any local tank driving farms?
My kids are 13, 11, 7. They are used to riding motorcycles, bikes, camping, shooting, and helping their dad build/fly airplanes.

I love Nashville. I went to college at WKU in Bowling Green, KY, which is 45 minutes from Nashville. We used to go down there almost every weekend.
The Parthenon in Nashville is a really cool sight to see. Especially at night. There is also Broadway, the street running down past Bridgestone Arena. Plenty of cool souvenir shops and stuff the kids would like.

Then, of course, there's the Lane Motor Museum. Very cool place!

If Bowling Green is 45 minutes away that means the Corvette factory, museum, and now road course is 45 minutes away. I believe the question has gone from what to do in Nashville to how is the traffic from Nashville to Bowling Green.

Been there, kept me sane while we stayed a week in Radcliffe KY. The giant sink hole might be cool to see along with C7 production.

The Parthenon looks cool along with that strange-euro-car museum.

Nashvillian here.
Go to the Lane Motor Museum. Lots of cool, quirky cars. You can spend a lot of time there.

Then you could go race indoor go karts at Music City Indoor Karting.

And yeah, the Parthenon is kinda cool. It's a nice park overall. But a block away from the park is a restaurant called Rotier's, if you want a pretty fantastic burger for lunch.

Make some dry ice bombs or something.
The inborn need to make things explode can overcome any circumstances.

It's fine as long as you get out of or into Nashville anytime but rush hour. I-65 between Bowling Green and Nashville is pretty much going through the middle of nowhere.
