Like, now.
I can't believe they don't sell this over here. We're like the SUV capital of the world.
The four-cylinder diesel engine is a total of 3.2 liters. Dear god.
Just click through the specs and images and stuff.

The interior looks rather nice for being a Mitsu.
I like it.

I agree. I think there is a need for a rough and tumble sort of SUV. The 4Runner is simply too expensive. Sadly I don't think Mitsubishi knows what its doing anymore. Sad.

It was called the Montero and the US sales were sad, like most Mitsubishi car sales in the US.

It looked a little dopey when it was for sale here.
They should try a round 2 with this. WITH that huge 4-pot diesel.

Those big 4 diesels are popular is countries that have no diesel restrictions, but they are far too agricultural for American tastes. As much as I want one.

do a youtube search for Pajero diesel or Hilux/prado D4D and see what I mean.

Cummins are very smooth compared to these 4 cylinders. Think cell phone vibration, verses earthquake differences. One thing American manufacturers can get right, is a smooth diesel.

I remember when I was a kid, playing an off-road game with this car in it, what on earth was it? I have a crazy need to play it now, now that I heard Mitsubishi Shogun.

This is what I dont get. WHY would anyone put buttons exactly where you have to distract to push them. Also, makes the wheel harder to turn. They sell them in Mexico, and I always thought it was an underdog and quite cool.

Here we have a 3.8 Litre V6 engine with almost 250 bhp. The same 5 speed auto, and all the 4WD stuff.
Its costs $38K...

Have you driven both? Granted the Pajero/Shogun and Hilux aren't up to say BMW or Audi standards of smoothness but given their intended market they're generally found acceptable.

I was watching Wheeler Dealers and Mike was driving one and I was so curious as to what it was.

I didn't even notice those ones on the under side of the wheel. Strange.

That price seems pretty right.

I know, and that one at least has the navigation. In Mexico we get the stock head unit that vulgarly says ROCKFORD FORSGATE on the side.

Oh yeah, those head units that brag about what company it is are kinda annoying and stupid.

Exactly. I only think they work when they are made into pieces of art or something. Like Burmester, or Bang and Olufsen. But BOSE on every single speaker, thats just bragging.

No, but I've heard them run(in video) and they are rough. Even BMW's new Twinpower diesel is relatively rough compared to the big three, especially Ford's 6.7.

I don't know, I'm in one of those parts of the world where Cummins find themselves unable to sell any significant number of roadgoing engines due to everyone finding it rather cheaper to make their own and where Ford's biggest diesel (or any) engine is a 3.2 which is a very slow seller in comparison to their 2.2 that they use in the Transit van (although now that I think of it they make V6s and V8s for Jag and Land Rover). I'd be surprised though if commercial engines like those you mention were anything like as refined as those you find in a BMW or Merc.

Well, you are comparing an I4 that is no longer state of the art to a V8. It would be more realistic to compare it to another I4 such as Ford's 1.6 or 2.0 or indeed the opposite - BMW's I6 or V8 to the Ford one.
