So come tomorrow Im gonna start re-painting my wheels, Im pretty confident in my abilities but would love any advice that anybody might have to offer. Also Ive been having lukewarm luck with finding paint that I like, I want a gold/bronze paint but all Ive found is some straight up GOLD paint, I think it'll be fine but if anybody has suggestions on where to get good quality rattle cans with a good color selection Id love to hear from you!

Have an MR2 with wheels that match what Im going for except that his are black and mine "hopefully" will be gold/bronze.

There's a metallic plastidip that gets more or less bronze depending on how many coats you paint and what the base paint is. You could try that. If you don't like how it turns out you can peel it off and use real paint.

Edit: I think it's one of these: https://www.dipyourcar.com/Metalizers-cat…

One of the other Opponauts just did this to his car, and it came out nicely. Don't remember who it was.

The problem Im more or less having is that I live in the middle of nowhere and there isn't any good selection of stuff, I thought about doing plastidip but when I went to look there was a only a can or two or black or white and the rest were orange, red, green and blue

It basically needs to be done by Monday night so I don't want to rush myself, I gave myself plenty of time but assumed that Id be able to find the paint I needed without issue, worse comes to worst I can just do them silver or black like above

If you don't mind me asking, why does it need to be done soon? Is there a show/meet you'll be attending? You don't want to rush something like this if you aren't absolutely certain how to proceed.

Going back to Philly for school, Ive got nothing but car stuff to do this weekend so its not really rushed, I just didn't account for having trouble finding paint

I've used Duplicolor Bronze wheel paint on my MR2 Spyder wheels

And Duplicolor Gold on some Cressida snowflakes

Both came out decent I think.

Both look pretty good! Where'd you get the paint?

Auto parts stores sell wheel paint, at least where I live. It's a little more expensive than regular spray paint though. I used it with good results. Others have pointe out plastidip, a friend did this and it looks great, but IMO brake dust tends to stick to it a little bit more.

As for tips? Here's what I've learned: Clean the wheels really well, especially the backsides where brake dust and dirt build up. Make sure wipe everything with some sort of degreaser, and wear disposable gloves if you need to handle the partially-painted wheels. A good paint job is mostly in the prep work, so take your time.

I like to spray the backside first, then the front, so that any overspray isn't noticeable.

Good luck!

Thanks, Ive been doing tons of research and I watch enough wheeler dealers that painting is all about prep work is firmly impacted in my mind, haha Ill check out the other auto parts stores in the area tomorrow I guess, I only went to one and the selection was pretty slim
