Someone responded to a comment of mine earlier today, wondering if they could nominate me for Conversation of the Day, and if Jalopnik was still doing COTD.
Of course there can't be COTD because $kaycog can't post her famous award photos because Kinja is currently JPEG intolerant.
But then I realized that all of $kaycog's photos are of pornography, and Kinja has been neutered because people kept posting pornography in the comments.
IT WAS YOU $KAYCOG!!!!! YOU BROKE KINJA!!!! I HATE YOU!!!

Somehow, I didn't realize the lack of COTD until today. But it was still epic when I first pieced together the otherwise completely 100% plausible explanation for Kinja's neutering.

It wasn't the broad range of NSFW material that 'broke' kinja. It was a specific set of NSFW material. Namely, bloody rape gifs and people defecating on each other, and it was the repeated, never-ending posting of said material from cowardly anonymous trolls to specific editors and commentors who don't like what someone said, and have no other way of response beyond that of a barking dog.
And you can't break something that's already broken.

I have absolutely no confirmation of this but I suspect they stopped doing the COTD at least partially because they didn't want the naked women any more.

They used to ask for COTD NOMs in the past - seemed to work out pretty well.
Searching by COTD might also work, as people used to reply with this to great posts.
