SUV's used to be SO DAMN SLOW!
the FASTEST in the 1991 Camparo I linked to bellow was the XJ Cherokee at 10.5 to 60 and 17.7 @76 in the 1/4.
The slowest was The 4Runner at 15.7 to 60 and 20.7 @66 mph in the 1/4.
Flat out, with nothing in it, brand new the top engined 4Runner couldn't get to freeway speeds in 1/4 mile. (Trooper does it in 12.5/20.8@66)

My wife had a mid-90's 4Runner briefly when we were dating (14 years ago). I had to drive it from Houston to Sealy (about 30 miles) when I got a call that my father and grandfather were involved in a major accident on IH-10. I had the gas pedal floored. Top speed: 81 MPH.
My dad and grandfather were not injured, BTW.

Solution: Buy Tahoe with 5.7L V8 making like 250 horsepower and a lot more torque.

not a solution. my family had an 88, 91, and 97 suburbans with engines from the 350 tbi to the 454 vortech, fast they were not...at all. (until we supercharged the 454)

No care, unless you're talking about the LQ9. That things one supercharger kit away from mass devastation.

But the Tahoe is smaller than the Suburban!
And the 88 and 91 were completely different models, and I know those were slow as hell. I knew someone who had a 454 suburban and I out dragged it in my van.
