I though I would do a separate post on what where surely the best pieces in the collection at the Blackhawk Auto Museum: the Alfa Romeo BAT cars. BAT stands for "Berlinetta Aerodinamica Tecnica".
This silver car is actually the third and last BAT car built and probably the most recognizable, the BAT 9. This is that Hot Wheels car you have in your collection that you weren't sure was based on a real car or not.
This car had an aerodynamic coefficient of 0.19. Pretty impressive for a 60 year old design.
The second BAT car, the 7, had more of a futuristic design to it with dramatic fins and hidden headlamps.
This gray and orange example was actually the first car built, the BAT 5.
It looks more like something from Speedracer instead of an Alfa.
In total, there are only three Alfa BAT's in existence and they all live happily together in the Blackhawk Auto Collection! Go check in out the next time you're in the Bay Area.

I remember when these beauties were on display in Vegas. I spent a good half hour just admiring the craftsmanship gone into shaping those magnificent wings. They look a lot better in their proper home than some cheesy Vegas museum.

Is the Bucciali still on display? It was one of my favorites when I visited several years ago.

B.A.T. 7. Will forever have a place in my life. I had a micro machine of it. I thought it was the best car ever. B.A.T. 7 is my first automotive true love, the one that I remember for the rest of my life.

we purposely looked at these last because we knew we'd look at them the longest. We spent about 10 minutes on each car just taking them in. Incredible cars

I love these cars. They are just so batshit, so to speak, insane.
