Yesterday I hung around Oakland for a bit with my good friend. We made a trip out to the Blackhawk auto collection out in Danville, CA. Definitely worth the trip; several of the pieces in the collection were either Pebble Beach Concours entrants or winners. Worth the $15 to get in.

This greeted us at the door. This is a 1939 Aero Model 50, a Czech-built car. One of three custom convertibles out of twenty fitted with bodies from Czech coach builder Josef Sodomka. We need more coach builders.

Oh hey, a Jaguar XKSS. One of 16 built. This one wasn't Steve McQueen's, but still. This was the seventh car built.

Couple of Maseratis

This is an ISO Griffo Prototype. Italian beauty with an American heart.

This one-off Jaguar SS 100 was a first class winner at the 1992 Pebble Beach Concours.

This Rolls Royce had a beautiful paint job. It was sort of taupe on tan with orange pinstripes with matching hubcaps.

The number of vents on this Mercedes SSK puts the TVR Sagaris to shame.

Does your Bentley have an adjustable leaf spring suspension system? Didn't think so.

Talbot Lago! 1 of 1. If you had $6,500 in 1951, you could have bought this.

This Bugatti Roadster was another Pebble Beach winner.

Another 1 of 1 car, this Delahaye won it's class at the 2001 Pebble Beach Concours.

Oppo needs more purple one-off Rolls Royces

This was a 1948 Cadillac with custom coach work from France.

A bunch of Ferrari racers with four cylinder engines, surprisingly

They had a series of 1950's Chrysler concept cars with 1950's model names, like "Fire Arrow".

Exhaust pipes built in to the rear fenders.

I thought this was a GT40 in Gulf livery, but it was just a Mirage...

This was a Jaguar/Cunningham lightweight racecar prototype

My first BMW 507! I didn't realize these had tiny V8's in them

Thee were two Lancia Blue Ray prototypes. Very interesting designs.

Double hood vent, bubble top, triple headlight, double bubble windshield craziness.

D Type! This is the second one I've ever seen.
