that's just awful. Seriously, if you're not sure how deep the water is don't drive into it!
Watched an older Merc a few years back drive into a side street during some pretty heavy rains. The water was lapping out into the street where you know something is wrong. The car stopped, headlights gave a few blinks and a stutter then out. It was pretty sad to watch.
(I got out of there since it didn't appear the drivers life was in any risk and there wasn't much else I could do to help / had to save my ride too)

Wow look at all that? Can we have some? This year was half of the previously lowest recorded rainfall for us.

I realize it was flash style flooding in some areas BUT so many people uploaded videos (that I can't share here unfortunately) of cars and trucks trying to drive through and hydrolocking.
Why risk your car?!
