It needs to shut the freaking hell up . Is it possible? Without being animal cruelty or something. Or do I just have to:
My cat (above) likes to go outside on the rear deck, as does my neighbor's dog. The decks are connected but separated by wooden posts. They see each other literally every day and night, and yet the dog has a ridiculous urge to bark every single time it sees my cat.
Also, all the other dogs on the block initiate a barking war once they hear one dog bark. It's annoying as hell.
A lot of Opponauts are dog owners, so I figured this might be a good place to ask.
Have an E30 for your time.

The people across the street and the house behind them both have little yippie dogs and they go fucking crazy whenever they're outside, it's even worse when they're all out at the same time. So. Fucking. Annoying. And I'm a big time animal lover.

my friend planted a ultrasonic speaker bark deterrent thing in a neighbors yard i think it was remote controlled. I never heard if it worked. dogs are stupid and just bark at everything and never seem to tire of it and I wish I knew why. why not put board or something so the dog doesnt see your cat probably wouldnt work cats like to jump onto railings and junk.

Check your local by-laws. You can probably call in on them for the excessive barking.

my neighbors have a dog that will bark. My girls just turned 2 and if they hear him bark they will yell out the window at the dog. I find it hilarious. I dunno about the neighbors.

Honest answer no jokes: Give the dog your old peanut butter jars when they're so empty you can't get anything out. He will lick it for hours trying to get every last bit.

Start with a knock on the door. If they are real assholes call the cops. Noise pollution and improper pet care.
The shelter we got our dog from wouldn't allow people to adopt if they had a fenced in yard or cable run. They wanted to know that people would take their dogs out for walks and be with them. It's been great advice - at minimum we get up and go outside with him when he needs to use the outdoors. And you are a real dickhead if you are with your dog and don't pick up it's crap.

I live on the 3rd (top) floor of my apartment building. My next door neighbors have a little yippy dog, and my bedroom shares a wall with their apartment. This dog was never a problem until someone with a bigger dog moved in on the 1st floor. Now, whenever someone walks by outside, the big dog gets all excited and starts barking, which sets off the little yippy dog.
This is particularly annoying at 8 am on a fucking Saturday, but I'm cool with my next door neighbors and there's not really anything they can do about it. They're getting woken up too.

uh, make friends? Talk to your neighbors, tell them about the barking. Introduce the dog and the cat somewhere new. DO NOT INTRODUCE NEW ANIMALS IN ANOTHER ANIMAL'S HOUSE. Anyway, once the dog and cat learn to get along outside the house, you won't have barking issues anymore, as they'll either ignore each other (like good neighbors), or hang out together at home.
