is no better than a Fox News story. It's just plain bad journalism. Author Sean Newell is already trying to make Tony look like a callous murderer. Until guilt is proven or disproven we can't know, and it will probably take weeks of analysis and months of court battles to decide. Making an article highlighting his previous and completely unrelated act(s) of temper after this terrible incident is like throwing gas onto the fire just to stir up more controversy.

Sean Newell, you are an ass hole and don't deserve to have authorship on Deadspin.

Agreed. Even after watching the video multiple times, no one can say for sure. He guns it, but he implies he guns it wayyyy before hitting the guy, which just isn't the case. Either way this incident needs to show the rest of the racing community that feuds like this need to stop until the cars are put away.

I agree. There was an an accident in the old NASCAR Dash series race in 2004 at Daytona where a driver, who happened to be a paraplegic, struck and killed a track worker during a caution. He came off pit road and was catching up to the field and did not expect to see a track worker standing on the track. In this case, who actually knows if Stewart actually saw Ward until he was about to hit him and thought that a little gas would have kicked the car sideways enough to avoid him instead of slamming the brakes and sliding head on into him. Unfortunately, the Court of Public Opinion was already out for Stewart's head before anybody knew what happened. Until more video evidence surfaces, nobody will really know what happened, other than Stewart and possibly the drivers right around the incident when it happened.

I mean, I don't know if he is a good writer or not, I rarely ever read Jalopnik now. It is mostly down to the way they word their articles "This ____ will show____ how to ____" or "This is the most amazing thing in the world ever, and here is why"

To be fair though, headlines are meant to entice you to read a story. It's been that way a very long time.

But really, it's the way of the internet. There are so many other voices out there that you have to do what you can. Plus, the "clickbait" of Jalopnik isn't nearly as bad as some other sites. Clickbait is bad when you have an interesting headline, but then don't really follow it up with any substance. Usually when the FP has an awesome headline, there's something substantive behind it.

True true, but I still can't read most of the articles anymore. I haven't been on there in almost 2 years now. Not to mention the commenters are absolutely terrible. I like it here on Oppo, much nicer crowd and the posts some people make are very very informative at time. I remember reading it back in the day, and thinking they were just pandering to the majority of the hipster "I bet you never heard of this car". . . may have just been me.
